Brief Bios
Diani Ariesta Nasroel Chas, widely known as Dita or Uni Dita, has emerged as one of the key leaders of the Diaspora to Diaspora Task Force, a community-driven initiative she co-leads with Harun Calehr. Together, they have built a vital support network that serves as a lifeline for Indonesian diaspora members across the United States. While Harun primarily focuses on legal and immigration matters, Dita’s work centers on grassroots empowerment within the Indonesian community. Under her leadership, the Task Force has assisted countless individuals facing challenges beyond the legal sphere. The team is often among the first to respond when Indonesian diaspora members encounter crises such as domestic violence, civil or criminal cases requiring non-legal assistance, or sudden financial hardship. Dita plays a central role in mobilizing community resources to help cover urgent medical and living expenses for those in need. She has also become a strong advocate encouraging Indonesian women abroad to pursue further education and build their own economic independence. Her work extends to supporting accident victims and their families, as well as coordinating the repatriation of remains to Indonesia—an emotionally and logistically complex responsibility she undertakes with compassion and care. Remarkably, all assistance provided through the Task Force is offered free of charge, reflecting Dita’s deep commitment to service and solidarity within the diaspora community. Her leadership—grounded in empathy, trust, and collective action—has become a benchmark for Indonesian diaspora leaders worldwide. Professionally, Dita is an Indonesian-American nurse based in Texas. In addition to her clinical career within a major healthcare group, she is currently pursuing doctoral studies in nursing and serves as Secretary on the Executive Board of the Indonesian Diaspora Network United USA.

He holds a PhD and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, specializing in Continuum Mechanics, and a BS in Structural Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). His research program is dedicated to the improvement of sustainable technology through innovative engineering design. While his foundational work includes the study of vortex-induced bladeless turbines, Tesla turbines, and supercritical carbon dioxide for green power, his recent scholarship focuses on two emerging frontiers: the development of wind turbines for rural areas and the embedding of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. By integrating AI into the engineering curriculum, he aims to revolutionize student learning outcomes, while his work in rural wind energy seeks to provide practical, scalable renewable solutions for underserved communities.
